Books by Camille

I wanted to be an author from the first time I  can recall thinking about what my life as a "grown up" would look like. However, the journey to becoming an author was anything but linear for me. I guess I  had to collect my stories before I  was ready to share them with the world.

Luckily, here we are today, and I  have real words written on pages for you to read. And my ultimate hope is that they will resonate with you the way the texts of my favorite authors have throughout my life.

Life is hard and unpredictable at best, and the ultimate gift for me is knowing I made someone's day just a little better and helped them feel seen and empowered, both while they are in my world and afterward.

The Storyteller's
Daughte
r

A debut novel, by Camille Gossett

Cassie Archdale was born into a world of lies, hidden pasts, and subterfuge — and she has spent her whole life paying for it.

By seventeen, Cassie is already running as she attempts to escape the wreckage of her affair, a little girl's death, her mother Morgana's suicide, and her father's misdirected rage. In her attempts to rebuild, she is almost broken by a lover who called his cruelty devotion. Somehow, she survives. Somehow, she builds yet another life to hide within — quiet, careful, and entirely fabricated. But the past has a way of finding us, no matter how far we run.

When a dangerous figure from her teen years resurfaces, Cassie's carefully constructed world begins to bottom out. Then the impossible happens: Morgana returns — not gone after all, but woven into the edges of Cassie's world in ways that defy explanation, trailing the old magic of the Indigo line, a lineage of power that has been buried and hidden from Cassie her entire life.

What follows will force Cassie into decisions that may destroy her — or finally unmake the version of herself that was never truly hers to begin with. Because she has always been the Storyteller's Daughter, bound by her father's world and his secrets. Now, for the first time, she must ask what it means to be something else entirely.

The Storyteller's Daughter is a speculative fiction novel set in an alternate American South of the 1980s — a dark take on the modern fairytale about inheritance, survival, and the cost of becoming who you were always meant to be.
